What to Know Before Your Treatment
High-dose vitamin C is a step up from a standard injection, offering concentrations that support immune function and antioxidant activity in a way oral supplements simply can't match. Because the dose is significantly higher, we require a quick G6PD lab test before your first treatment. This isn't red tape. G6PD deficiency is a fairly common but often undiagnosed enzyme condition, and in a small number of patients, high-dose vitamin C can trigger a serious reaction if it's present. The test tells us it's safe to move forward.
You can complete the G6PD lab at your primary care provider's office, or we're happy to run it for you here in-clinic before you start treatment. Either way works, whichever is easier for you.

Questions? We’re Here to Help
Do I need a G6PD test before vitamin C IV or injection?
Yes. A G6PD lab test is required before high-dose vitamin C, since the treatment can trigger a serious reaction in patients with this enzyme deficiency. The test can be done at your primary care provider's office or in-clinic at iVy.
What are the side effects of high-dose vitamin C?
Most patients tolerate high-dose vitamin C well, though mild side effects like discomfort at the injection site can occur. Patients with G6PD deficiency are at risk for a more serious reaction, which is why testing is required beforehand.
Why can't I just book this online like other injections?
Because a safety test is required first, we ask that you contact our clinic directly before booking so we can confirm your G6PD results and get you scheduled properly.
How is high-dose vitamin C different from a standard vitamin C shot?
High-dose vitamin C delivers a significantly stronger concentration than a standard injection or oral supplement, offering more robust immune and antioxidant support for appropriate candidates.
